It all began with a spotlight. Reluctant to go on stage for my first recital (at the age of 3) I clung to my “Monkey” as my aunt/dance teacher held me in the wings. That is until I realized how much attention the dancers who braved the stage were receiving. It was my turn. I threw Monkey to the side and walked out on stage, in the middle of the dance mind you, and begun from the top. As the original choreography ended and the other dancers exited stage right, I carried on. Step by step I executed the entirety of the dance (as best as a 3 year old can). I credit this solo moment with igniting my passion for performing.
